Diesel Performance Engines offers an extensive range of engine machine shop services to build or upgrade the performance and reliability of your diesel engine. Our services cater to enthusiasts and professionals seeking improvements in engine power, performance, efficiency, and durability. Below are some of the specialized services we provide.
Optimal engine performance and reliability can only be achieved it the rotating engine assemblies are in balance. Diesel Performance Engines offers engine balancing services on our premium CWT Industries Multi-Bal 5500 crankshaft, conrod, piston and rotating assemblies balancer. By ensuring all rotating and reciprocating components are perfectly balanced, we reduce engine vibration, enhance power development, and extend the life of your engine. While engine balancing does not create more horsepower, it does allow the engine to develop more horsepower.
Our expertise in performance cylinder head builds ensures your engine delivers maximum power and efficiency. We machine the valve guides and seats on our Serdi 4.5 and face all surfaces on our BERCO STC361 milling machine with Winfield Jig. Valves are faced on the Sioux 2075 valve facer as necessary, valve springs checked on the Intercomp Digital valve spring tester and installed valve spring heights checked.
In today’s performance diesel engine market, it is important to be able to test the emissions produced by an engine after making changes to the engine and it’s tuning. We have a state-of-the-art Heshbon HG-520 NOX Analyzer that enables us to test diesel engine exhausts for CO, HC, CO2, O2 and NOX. We have developed an IMO240 drive cycle program for our chassis dyno that enables us to simulate an industry standardised road emissions test drive cycle.
All crankshafts and other ferromagnetic components as necessary are crack tested on our LectroMax 4000 electro-magnetic and UV crack tester. Components can be dye-penetrant tested if required. The electro-magnetic testing can detect sub-surface cracks in many instances.

Our independent injector testing service will offer detailed assessments of your fuel injectors, ensuring they deliver precise fuel supply for optimal performance, fuel economy and engine life. Tests results are compared against the O.E. specifications.
We are equipped with a premium Miriam Laminar Flow Element in our full-size, in-house-built, flow bench. We can test and compare the air flow of cylinder heads, intake and exhaust manifolds and airboxes. We are continually testing the effects of size, shape and angles on all components in the air intake and exhaust systems. We test the claims of products sold in the market and typically compare them to the O.E. items they replace and their competition.
Premium cleaning of engine parts is achieved with ultrasonic technology. We use a Tierratech 600N cleaner with 600 litre capacity, 9000W of heating elements and 6000Wp (12000 Wp-p) of ultrasonic generators. 3 submersible emitters with a power of 2000W (4000 Wp-p) each and made of 2.5 mm thick stainless steel AISI 316 stainless steel. The reciprocating wash table measures 1230 mm x 650 mm and a usable height of 430 mm. You have not seen clean until you have seen engine parts ready for assembly that have been cleaned in a hot tank, ultrasonic cleaner. Our engine assemblers can be sure the engines they assemble are meticulously clean.
At Diesel Performance Engines we ONLY build performance diesel engines. Any standard engine shop can build you a standard diesel engine. The engines we build are for high performance applications. We use only the very best of engine components that we have tested and/or developed ourselves. We design, develop and have manufactured most of the parts we use in our engines. Most engines will include:
Diesel Performance Parts Pistons with anodised crowns and Cerakote ceramic coated crowns and Cerakote Micro Slick coated skirts. We have conducted extensive testing to see which coatings offer the best heat insulating and reflecting properties. Our pistons are running in engines producing in excess of 1600 HP and 75 psi turbocharger boost.
We have worked with Total Seal to offer Gapless 2nd Rings for our product range to help minimise cylinder blow-by on turbocharged engines.
After extensive testing we have chosen to upgrade our conrod designs to I-Beams. We have added extra oil feed holes, slots and grooves at critical lactations to ensure premium performance. All conrods in a set are balanced to within 1 gram. We add the ARP2000 to the conrods to ensure they are nor counterfeit. These conrods have been safely run in engines producing in excess of 250 HP per cylinder.
We work closely with ARP to develop our kits to ensure the best fit and the best options for your engine.
Our parent company, Engine Australia, is ACL Bearing Company’s longest active customer. We work with ACL to ensure the ACL Race Bearings range for the most common 4WD diesel engines are available.
We are continually working with our valve manufacturer to improve the quality of our performance valves. Both our inlet and exhaust valves are one-piece forgings made from 21-4N stainless steel. The stem ends are tipped with induction hardened, 4Cr9Si2 friction welded, steel wafers. Exhaust valve faces are Stellite welded and all valve bodies are fully Nitride hardened. The valve heads are fully machined, and the underside radii are swirl polished right to the valve to promote better air flow and combustion chamber swirl. All valves have a 30° back-cut up to 45° valve faces and a 25° back-cut up to 30° valve faces.
We are working closely with our valve spring manufacturers to continuously bring you improved performance valve springs.
We use Diesel Power Parts gaskets by Engine Australia for our core engine gaskets sets. When necessary, we work with Cometic Gaskets and other specialist head gasket manufacturers to develop specialised performance head gaskets.
These dampers are suitable for up to approximately 1,000 HP.
We have excellent success with NPC flywheel and clutch components.
We fully balance all performance engines we build – in-house.
